Wednesday—Good For You, Good for The Home: Whirlpool White Ice

White appliances with a frosted glass iPod finish

Whirlpool's White Ice Collection

Whirlpool's new glossy white finish

If you're thinking about updating your kitchen, check out this slick new appliance collection from Whirlpool.  What makes this new line a five-star collection is the beautiful frosted glassy finish, as well as the soft chrome handles and the retro-style knobs.  These appliances have a sleek, updated look that I love!

You can find the separate pieces at all of the major appliance dealers (Lowe's, Sears, Home Depot & Costco), but the best deal that I've seen for the entire suite (with gas range) is at Costco  for $2,999.

That's a great deal considering that the 26 cu. ft. white ice side-by-side refrigerator alone goes for $1,399 at Lowe's.  The Costco appliance suite features a 5.8 cu. ft. gas range; a 15-setting dishwasher; a 2 cu. ft. microwave; and a 26 cu. ft. side-by-side fridge.

But, you may want to shop around for different sizes and other types of appliances in the collection (notice the double convection ovens in the photo above).  And, if you like black, they also come in black ice.

Dare I say that these kitchen appliances are...sexy?  Okay, I just did!  And, they are reasonably priced for mid-price appliances, plus they're getting great reviews.  I always do my homework, and I don't buy new products until they've been on the market for a year.  The Ice Collection was announced by Whirlpool in July 2012.  Since then, Whirlpool has amassed a solid base of reviews that are overwhelmingly good.

I've read only one negative review (on the Lowe's site), and it had to do with the location of the interior light inside of the fridge, a door that doesn't snap shut on its own, and the small capacity ice maker.  We have the exact same problems with our high-end GE Profile, so I think it depends on what you've been used to.  Overall, we have no complaints...except for the ice maker.  I like ice!

Anyway, the next time that you're wandering around Lowe's or Home Depot, check out these beautiful new appliances.  Whirlpool has definitely raised the bar!
