What's an algorithm?

"Algorithm" is named after the 9th century Persian mathematician Al-Khwarizmi.

An Algorithm is a step-by-step solution to a problem.  A recipe is an algorithm for baking a cake.

Tuesday's Cupboard—NOMA

What it was like to eat in the best restaurant in the world

Step into noma

noma_excellence

What does it mean to be the "best restaurant in the world?"  It means that a panel of 936 international leaders in the restaurant industry divided into 26 culinary regions around the world have voted, and one restaurant comes out on top.  The criteria for voting casts a wide net designed to fairly represent the current scene in fine dining.  Nominations are made for the restaurant, not the chef or the owner, and every restaurant in the world is eligible.

It is the dining experience that matters.

Click HERE for more interesting facts about the voting.

The Saturday Trust—The Fun Never Stops

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift: that's why they call it the present.  ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Not much of a mystery if you're already dead.

A note to the Great Beyond

Alright, so here's the deal-ee-o...My dad was cremated last year according to his final wishes.  Last week, he got some snailmail here at my house from the Trident Society offering information on pre-paid cremation...

It's like being asked to the prom after it's over.

So, I've made an executive decision:

As executor of my dad's estate, I am going to skip having him cremated a second time.  I think once is enough.

Please forward to the Spirit Postmaster

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.

Always look on the bright side of life!
